Call for proposals for flagship projects in the framework of the European Year of Volunteering 2011

Council Decision of 27 November 2009 has designated 2011 as the European year of voluntary activities promoting active citizenship. The overall purpose of the and quot; European year of volunteering and quot; is to encourage and support the efforts of the European Union, the Member States, local and regional authorities, to create conditions conducive to volunteering in the European Union and to increase the visibility of voluntary activities in the EU.

This call for proposals is based upon the above Council Decision.

The purpose of this call is to support one or two flagship projects per Member State, which will receive a grant from the European Commission, in order to test and develop new and innovative schemes and approaches with a view to build long-term partnerships between civil society organisations operating in the area of volunteering.

and nbsp;The Cultural Contact Point, in collaboration with the Traditional Arts team are holding an information event in the Arts Council on 21 October from 11am to 2 pm.

Niamh McCabe and Louise Duggan (Cultural Contact Point, Ireland) will be faciltating the event, along with the Traditional Arts team, guest speakers and previous applicants/recipients.

Reminder of upcoming Culture Programme deadlines

The adeadlines for and nbsp;several of the Culture Programmes primary funding programmes are drawing close.

The first important date is 15 September which marks the deadline for Strand 2 (which provides support for organisations active at European level in the field of culture) as well as the new Strand 3.2 ( which provides support for cooperation projects between organisations involved in cultural policy analysis).

The second is 1 October which is the deadline for both Strand 1.1 (Multi-annual cooperation projects) and Strand 1.2.1 (Cooperation projects).
